ACADEMIC SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY
The mission of Srinakharinwirot University’s mission is to raise the knowledge, spread the opportunities and promote the education and technology transferring to the local people, both in urban and rural. It is in the line with the concept of “ONE PROVINCE, ONE UNIVERSITY” to embrace the “SUFFICIENCY ECONOMY PHILOSOPHY” of the King Rama IX.

The university therefore plays an important role in social and rural development in each province area base which it is an integration of working with communities and partners for sustainable community development.
PM2.5 dust crisis and coping with economic, social, environmental, and human health
The Faculty of Economic Annual Seminar has been continued for more than 10 years to be the center of sharing the knowledge about economic and transferring the multi-current issues to the public both in and out of Srinakharinwirot University. In the year 2019 the “Environmental problems" particular the air quality is considered as a main topic consequence of the climate changed. It is affecting people around the world, including people in Thailand. It is also causing an impact at the national level as well therefore; government policy is an important tool to help preventing and reflecting the highest benefits to the public. This seminar invited speakers from both external and internal institutions involved to create mutual understanding and bringing protection, with the results reflected in the form of stability, confidence, and sustainable growth of the overall economy. The Seminar Project Countering the PM2.5 dust crisis and coping with economic, social, environmental, and human health is to educate people in public about the effects of the PM2.5 crisis in addition to the faculties and academics able to apply the knowledge gained to develop teaching and research work under current economic changes
There are 133 participants in the project. In addition, the knowledge about PM2.5 dust is transferred through TNN channel, tnnthailand.com website and PR Econ SWU Facebook allowing project participants to increase knowledge and understanding under the topic of dissolving dust PM 2.5 in preparation for dealing from the impact on the economy, society – law, environment and health under the current economic issues in every year.
• Academic Services for 4 years term in Khok Kruat Subdistrict, Nakhon Nayok
The Faculty of Economics Develop academic service plans for Nakhon Nayok society that is in line with the needs of the society. Moreover, Faculty of Economics has created a project to promote sustainable practices for saving guidelines, creating additional careers to raise income after agriculture for the elderly and members of the community (Year 2) are as follows: Training Workshop as a result of the product brings it together with the planning of training sessions with the community to build vegetable gardens for good physical and mental health of the elderly; Training on how to grow organic vegetables without chemicals, promote health and save money in the household; Training on the edge of the kitchen garden to grow vegetables for fun and health for the elderly along the roadside of the community; Promoting the sale of organic vegetables to create residual income; Promoting the cultivation of vegetables for consumption and health care for the elderly.
Economic Effect, there is training on planting organic vegetables without chemicals to promote health and save money in the household. Furthermore, the community can apply the input – output account to manage and allocate the amount of money received and paid out, leading to the remaining “savings" together with steadily moving forward after the project ends. There is also an extension of sales promotion of organic vegetables in order to generate income for the elderly in community. Society Effect, training is to grow organic vegetables for fun creating the good health for the elderly. The elderly lives happily with the people in the community and start aware on the own values because they can sell vegetables earning income for the family. Environmental Effect, it can reduce the amount of waste in the community from banana peel by using fermented products causing communities on reducing the pollution. In the same time, communities can reduce the opportunity cost from banana peels to bring increased savings and promoting vegetable cultivation for consumption and health care for the elderly. The results from the academic service area for the community this year are satisfactory for all 3 parties, which those are community members, the Faculty of Economics members, and Srinakharinwirot University in which this 3rd project was selected and accepted for presentation at the 6th Engagement Thailand Symposium at Uttaradit Rajabhat as confirmation of operations that are in line with the King’s mission to create value and develop sustainable local communities be true.
